Yay! Thanks for the report, I couldn't watch them here 'cause I don't have the right channel. Still, highlights are on tonight, so I'll tune in. As much as I wanted Brokeback Mountain to take Best Picture, Crash totally deserved it. In fact, there's not a lot up there I disagree with. Not sure about Reese Witherspoon but I haven't seen the film, so I can't comment. I just remember her in films like Legally Blonde and find it hard to picture her as an Oscar winner. Anyway, thanks!

Welcome baby. As for Reese Witherspoon, I haven't seen Walk the Line yet either, but I've seen her in serious roles (Cruel Intentions, for one) and I think she totally deserves this. To me, she's like a throwback to old hollywood. She has all the class and sophistocation to make the really serious dramas, and the sense of humor needed to make a fool out of herself making an actually funny comedy.

I actually told [livejournal.com profile] eternalmusings tonight that she reminded me of the new Jessica Tandy. That might not mean much to most people, but Jessica Tandy (Fried Green Tomatoes, Batteries Not Included, Cocoon, and several other films) is one of an extremely limited list of celebrities that have passed on that I actually find myself missing.

Good points. I have to admit, in every character she's played, she's like a different person. 'Freeway' in particular...she played white trash so well. And then to go on and do such that role in 'Cruel Intentions'... Fair play to her. I won't be watching 'Walk the line' but I'm sure she did it justice.
