um...hello! I'd love to know where they hell this came from. I'm lying here, trying to sleep, because I have to be at work at a ridiculous hour of the day today and this gets literally dumped into my brain. Can anyone give me an opinion on how I'm doing? I've only seen the first season of SGA, so I'm not sure about getting the characterization (not that there's much here, but ya know...). I also have no idea what is going on, so if anyone can explain that to me too, I'd be ever so grateful.
"Rodney!"
"Rodney!"
Rodney McKay bolted awake in his quarters on Atlantis, unsure of just what it was that had woken him. He had a vague feeling that someone was in the room with him, but after only a moment's consideration, he discarded the thought. He finally decided that he must have been dreaming and, after furiously fluffing his pillows, he lay down to try and get a little more sleep.
"Rodney!"
Rodney's eyes popped open. This time, he knew it wasn't a dream. He hadn't even gotten back to sleep yet. Trying not to give away the fact that he was asleep, Rodney lifted his head and took a look around the room. There was just enough moonlight reflecting off the ocean into his room to reveal that there was no one, other than himself, in his sparsely furnished room. Okay, I have got to cut back on the caffeine and sugar before going to bed, Rodney thought. He waited a few more minutes but, when he heard nothing further, he let his eyes drift closed once more.
"Rodney! Help me."
"Okay, that is it. If there is anyone in this room, show yourself. These childish practical jokes might have been funny when you were in high school, but now it's just ridiculous." Rodney sat up on the side of his bed, sliding his feet into a pair or worn, battered slippers before getting to his feet. He'd only taken a few steps when all the lights around his quarters came on at once, getting steadily brighter until Rodney had to raise a hand to shield his eyes. When the glare began to subside, Rodney lowered his hand, and his jaw nearly hit the floor.
In front of him was a holographic projection like the one of the Ancient they'd found when they first arrived on Atlantis. The fact that a holographic projection had appeared in his quarters wasn't what had him so shocked, though. What had him staring in disbelief was the holographic projection of Colonel John Sheppard standing in the middle of his quarters.
