I forgot that today was Thursday. As such, I forgot to spend today getting caught up on my shows. I'm two, no three, eps behind on Supernatural, muchly behind on Veronica Mars, massively behind on Smallville (like, a season and a half, I think), and my behindness on One Tree Hill resembles a nuclear (say it five times, really fast, Mr. Bush) explosion, or the after effects anyway.

Looks like tonight will be another night of no sleep at all.

Oh yeah, and I really need to spend tomorrow morning getting together the paperwork I need to find out if I can get financial aid to help me go back to school. What the HELL was I thinking that I could do this? I'm so not smart enough for college. I knew that when I was 18, what made me forget it? Plus, this being finals week and working with almost all college students? Not helping with the fear that I'm going to fail miserably and be laughed, or thrown, off campus.

And, to top it all off, I was told I should look into scholarships for students who return to school LATER IN LIFE!!!!! Do I look like I'm on my deathbed or something? I'm only 31. I'm also completely terrified because I am not smart!!

*cries*

Don't sweat college. Seriously. Start slow, with one cool class to get you into the rhythm of life as a part time student. Take a modern culture and media type of class, or English literature, or something from the film studies department just to test the waters out.

Trust me, just having to make time in your life for going to the actual classes and doing homework will be enough of a change in your life, so don't stray too far from the things that interest you for your first class choice.

No one is going to laugh you out of school. Colleges are in the business of teaching students. They want your business, so they won't laugh. The only time you might get thrown off campus is if you do something illegal, so you'd best keep your pants on while you are in class. :D

Believe it or not lots of profs like slightly older students. They see that you are back in school because you want to learn, and not just because you parents want you to go to college.

As for FAFSA forms, they are the devil's own red tape for students. I have felt your pain.

Oh, and Hi. *waves*

Hee!! and Hi!!

If it were just one or two classes, I wouldn't need the FAFSA forms. I could swing that, not easily, but doable. What I'm looking at is a full course load, working toward a major in Computer Sciences, which will eventually get me a career I'll like, if not love, away from dealing with retail customers on a daily basis.

I make no promises on the pants thing. I've seen some of the guys that go to school here, they even have a gay/jock-ish Frat. *sighs* Not sure of what it's called tho, could be something like Alpha Slappa Cum. (I really just made that up)

And I'm sure it'll be fine, once I actually start. It's just the anticipation and stress of "not good enough". I mean, I had a 3.867 GPA in High School and passed the ACT with a 32, first time out, no studying. Intellectually, I know I can do this. But I have this little paranoid part of me that says, "You couldn't tie your shoelaces if you tried."

Oh crud!! I need me some Sammy.

Well, Computer Science majors still need to take all kinds of liberal arts classes, so don't try to overload yourself with too many tough classes your first term. Talk with an adviser to see how you need to set yourself up to do well.

When I was an undergrad (in the dawn of time) I remember that the first term in CS was Calc 1, Physics 1, and C++ 1. That was 12 credits of very little fun. Well, the C++ was extra fun (I still love logic puzzles), but the calc and physics were a bit lacking in the fun department for me. :( So I added a class in Italian art history to keep myself happy. :)

Does the school your thinking about going to start with Java, C or C++? Or perhaps they start with some nice scripting like PHP or Perl? Any road, if you ever have any small questions drop me a line. I did finish my masters in computer info systems a few years ago. I don't use it, but I still have a head for knowing. ;)

Hi there!

Going back to college isn't as bad as you might think. I went back in January, and am currently waiting to get the last of my grades (I have one of them back already, just waiting for the other).

I'm 27, will be 28 in August. If you can get scholarships, do it. I went to one year of college right out of high school and dropped out. Took one class while I was living in California, and felt that it was "too much" at that point in time. Right now, it feels RIGHT to be back in school, and I'm considering going back full time in the fall and working part time. Yes, I'm insane.

I'm also your cousin. *waves*

Oh Em Gee!! How are you? Great to hear from you again.

I'm happy to see you're going back to school too. Makes me a bit less terrified, just a bit. LOL

Also, we have a couple of things in common on our To Do lists. I've become completely addicted and obsessive about Wicked: The Musical. I have the entire soundtrack and listen to it constantly. I can't wait until they come back down this way. A couple friends and I are already planning out road trip.

*hugs*

I'm really good, actually! Living with Mom and Dad again, but you gotta do what you gotta do. :)

Oh, and I got my other grade last night... I got A's in both my classes!

I'm not obsessed with Wicked!, but it is something that I want to see. If I can swing it, I want to go to Chicago in August to see it, as a birthday treat to myself. :)

I also added you to my friend's list, so you can actually see what has been going on in my life (rather than just the "comment to be added" post). Most of it is bitching about school and work. :)

*hugs*

Omigosh. Susan, Susan, Susan. I cannot believe what I am reading.

Who on earth told you aren't smart? You are one of the most intelligent people I know. It's why hanging around with you is so much fun. You're bright, intelligent, witty and you will TOTALLY blow them away at South or wherever you choose to go.

My only gripe is that you have to start back AFTER I have the computer class from hell. You could have been Doing my work helping me out all of this time. What gives? In the future, I'll proof all of your papers for you if you do any computer work I have to do.

And as for the scholarships, if they give you money, take it! I wish someone would give me money. Money would be nice.

Only I may have reconsidered the Computer Sciences courses and decided on Accounting.

Accountants make good money and it's all paperwork, and you don't really have to deal with any people.

It's perfect for me.

But it's MATH.

On second thought, now you can do my math homework for me. Huzzah! I'll trade you my proofing abilities for your ability to add two numbers together and have them come out to be the same answer each time.

Are we still going to see The Invisible this friday?

Cool.

I did tell you that the traveling Wicked production is going to be in Orlando this time next year, right? Disney World AND Wicked, what could be better?
