A little technical help, if you please?

Does anyone out there know how I'd go about changing a file extension? I know sometimes, if I don't have a program that works for that extension, it'll show up as part of the file name, such as "filename.ppg".
But what about when it's something saved as a .doc, but I need it to be a .avi? The file only shows the filename, no extension, such as "filename" It doesn't even give me the option in the properties menu.
Help?

Date: 2007-05-04 09:36 am (UTC)1. Open the directory where the file resides.
2. Change the extension of your .DLL or .EXE or what have you file to something like .AVI .MPG or whatever the original poster specified.
3. A prompt will come up asking if you'd like to use the new extension or keep the old one. Click to use the new one.
4. Play and enjoy.
If you use a PC:
1. Open the directory where the file is downloaded
2. Go to Tools > Folder Options
3. Go to the View tab
4. Scroll down until you find the Hide extensions for known file types check box and uncheck it.
5. Change the extension of your .EXE or .DLL or what have you to .AVI or .MPG or whatever the original uploader specified in their film post.
6. Play it and enjoy!
