luvxander: (naughtyboy)
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul

In the fell clutch of circumstances
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of change
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the year
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Invictus by William Ernest Henley

Don't know how many of you read poetry, but a friend of mine just shared this with me. It's something he found when he was a teenager and it's meaning helped him through many rough, depressed times. He sent it to me to help me through mine as well. And it has. There is such power in poetry, more than any of us ever guess at. I remember the first time I ever read "i am a little church (no great cathedral)", thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sajinn. Not being a religious minded person, I never thought something of that sort would even appeal to me, but I was proven wrong. Whenever I read that poem, by the great e.e. cummings, I get this overwhelming feeling of peace. I don't know if I ever thanked [livejournal.com profile] sajinn for that. If not, I not only owe her thanks, but a great apology for not issuing it sooner.

I've become affected the same way by this poem I've posted here, by William Ernest Henley. This one has, in fact, touched me in ways that nothing has, since I first read Nobody by Emily Dickenson. I'd like to issue thanks to my friend, Kennysugar as he is known to me. Now if I could only get him here, and naked, it'd be perfect.

Now, on to the Wheeeee portion of the evening that I promised. I got a card today. I love getting male, cards, letters, anything. It always gives me a giddy. I had such a stressful day, with a headache that wouldn't quit, but when I saw the card from [livejournal.com profile] angeljade in my mailbox when I got home, it all disappeared. Thank you so much AJ. I love you.

Plus, another whee moment (two for the price of one. maybe i should up the ticket prices.), I'm so almost off tomorrow. I only have to work 4 hours, but I'll also be going into overtime after 2 of those, and they never allow overtime, just ask Lyndee (she has an LJ, but I can never spell the name of it, it's "byan something chick", you can look it up on my info page if you want). Maybe they'll let me go home early, and I'll only have to work 2 hours. Oh lord, that'd be heaven on wheels. I'd give up sex just to get to go home early a day or so each week. That's how much I really dislike my job. Well, not the job so much as the people I work for, and this time of year. It's always hard on retail workers this time of year. I'm sure it'll be back to the normal amount of stress come january. Which is the month of my birth ([livejournal.com profile] spikedluv checked, it really is my bday this time).

Now I have to go, got some new porn sites to check out. I'll leave you with one of those now - it's a completely free cam site, all you get is the picture with no sound, but hey - there's guys doin the dirty.

Guys gettin nekkid

ETA: And now there's Geeker Joy!!!! Just got an email that says The Sentinel season 1 will be available on DVD April 18th, 2006 - AND!!! Seaquest DSV season 1 is coming out on dvd on Dec. 26th. Guess what CJ is buying for CJ this christmas. YAYAYAYAYAY. I've loved Seaquest since it first came out a long time ago. I had such a huge crush on Jonathan Brandis. So said that he's gone now - RIP JB. And now I can own him. In ways that I never even thought about when I was younger. I so can't wait for Xmas to be over now. Cause then I get my Seaquest. And dude, such perfect timing on Sentinel. Coming out right after taxtime. Right when everyone is broke. Luckily, DVD Planet.com is preselling them now for $27.97, 30% off

And now I realize that my LJ just became a billboard for poetry, porn, and dvds. I'll go to bed now, thanks.
