Yeah, I woke up about half an hour AFTER the final test taking time at the Personnel board. That means I have to wait, at minimum, another week to go in and apply. And that means that I'm stuck in hell for another week, at least.

Target's application center (they have a little keyboard) wasn't working today, so I can't fill that one out either. But, the good news is that they're opening a new Fed Ex/Kinko store soon, bet they'll need help there.

I'm going to go and find something on my hard drive to watch since it's storming and the satellite went out.

Fed Ex Kinkos would be great. Let me warn you, unless you're just looking at Target as a temporary place until you can get on at the library, watch out. I've worked for them two different times in my life--in my late teens and in my early 30s. That place is hell. It's Tarhell. They treat their employees very poorly. In other words, Like shit.

Oh, and don't call yourself stupid for missing that application time. You're stressing over the crap you're taking at your current job. Your body (and mind) probably realized you needed the rest!!

Thank you.

Yeah, Target's pretty much just a stop gap for me. I'm looking to eventually get out of retail altogether, or at the least, into a specialized field where the people coming to me already know what they want.

I'd love to get on at Fed Ex Kinkos. I was very close to it before, but there were too many applicants for too few positions.

The Library is the job I really want. The one I'm looking at is working in the actual office of the library, instead of out there shelving the books. I'd be in heaven. Plus, you're working at a place where they don't care if you read all the time.

I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you and the library job. Take anything you can get there. Whatever it is, just get in there. When they see you're worth, you'll be a made man. Reading heaven!!! Is there a university near you? I think a university bookstore would be the next best thing to a library.

There is a university bookstore, but they almost never have any openings that aren't part-time minimum wage. Plus, I already work at one of the chain bookstores and it's utter hell. They treat their employees like slaves. Worse, like slaves they actively hate.

I worked for Walden's years ago, waaaaay before it was Borders. It was a Christmas temp job, but my god, I never was made to feel so completely worthless and ignorant in my life! We got in trouble for talking to customers, and then we got in trouble for being cold to customers. We were expected to unbox and load carts and shelf carts of books that would have taken ten conscientious who were also waiting on customers and running registers, three days. Well, hell, apparently they wanted them put where the fuck ever because every time a manager or an assistant manager would come in and see any loaded or half loaded carts, they'd go ballistic, in front of customers.

Yes. I know retail hell. I was also a Foley's employee trainer here in Houston. Hell, if I ran into one of the management team members from Foleys, I'd slap and kick them unconscious. Quite happily.
